Photography has this element to it that many participants understand: The Moment Can Never Be Replicated.
It doesn’t matter if you come back to the same spot, if you replicate the situation, if the same people are present, and if the weather is the same. The scene won’t have that same look.
Of course replicating the scene for the photo presents what was first seen but of course it will always be a ‘copy’ of what the original scene held. Something less than in some photographers eyes.
In Video Games it is a bit easier to replicate those ‘scenic’ moments because variables, gear, players, lighting, and other elements will appear again. Video Games, no matter how impressive they get, have boundaries that repeat the same setting for the area. Lights, weather, NPC mobs, position of the skyline, it all comes back again because the game area is meant to host that specific ‘setting’.
It’s somewhat interesting though what odd positions and spots can be taken to add further depth to a Gaming Photography scene.
