Gaming Photographer. (Division 2, Fallout 76, Hunt: Showdown) (Cross-Posted)

(This is where I started to take Gaming Photography as a ‘profession’ or ‘skill’ medium seriously. The definition between a ‘screenshot’ and a ‘Photograph’ becomes more clear here)

I’ve recently taken a deeper look at the photographic side of Gaming and have been experimenting with photo mode and filters on screenshots and captures taken during play. I made some posts on D.buzz with some examples and a summary:

the photo mode aspect of a game should be explored just as much as other mechanics in the game and just like real life some areas look better with different lighting,huntshowdown1.jpg

Looks good for a night shot!

Hunt: Showdown doesn’t have a photo mode but the area and setting allows for some great photos to be taken and I wanted to see how it would look if I added a filter to make the photo look like it was taken in that time period (1895).20220503172828_1.jpg

Now we’re in 1895!

If the game has a photo mode then that will make the photo easier to take during play but other games without a photo mode will be a chance for me to test my photography skills as I try to get a good angle on a specific object/subject during play.

I plan on posting newly acquired photos on d.Buzz to share.

If you’ve had any experience with different photo modes in games or just saving screenshots during play, please leave a comment describing your interest in the feature!

Thank you for reading and happy gaming!

Filters and angles add so much to a photo from a game.
